Even though it can make you uncomfortable, you need to realize that numbers are a great indicator.

The major characteristic of numbers is that they don’t lie. They are true and they have character. Numbers do have a story to tell. So even though it can make you uncomfortable, you need to realize that numbers are a great indicator. They give a correct measurement of your life’s progress and productivity. Therefore, the quality, quantity, frequency, and sequence presented through numbers do tell a very true story.

Now one of my qualifications is that I am a Monitoring and Evaluation expert and in M&E we say even zero is a number. It means something. Especially when used as part of measurements of quantity.

So I want you to think through the stories that the numbers in your life tell. Think with me here:

  1. What story do the numbers in terms of the money in your bank account tell? How much money have you made in the past 6months? How frequently and in what sequence have you made that money? You can reliably use that to measure your level in terms of money

2. What story does your Mobile Money account tell? Can you track your spending habits by checking your mobile money use? Where have you been sending money? How much and why? The numbers there will quite accurately measure the quality and the quantity of…
